| With
vibrant coral reefs ringing the peninsula, diving opportunities
abound. Most
of the peninsula’s dive centers are PADI certified
and offer instruction and certification in addition
to shallow and deep water dives. The predominance of
dive
centers are located along the beach in the more populous
Las Terrenas area where they dive the many reefs along
the north shore. |

Las
Galeras has a well-equipped dive center that offers
dives to a sunken ship in Las Galeras Bay, cave exploration
along the sheer walls of Cabo Cabron and the “pinnacle,” a
coral encrusted rock that reaches to within ten feet
of the ocean’s surface from the depths at the
tip of the cape. The reefs off Playa Fronton at the
base of Cabo Samana's massive cliff face are also quite
scenic although the current that washes the cape's
tip can be a bit of a problem for divers at times. |
