Horseback Riding, 4WD and Quad Excursions       With several large riding stables in Las Terrenas and a smaller one in Las Galeras, horseback excursions provide a return to an earlier, more-primitive mode of transportation, although still an important one in rural Dominican communities.                     Whether riding for an hour or so along the beach, exploring the countryside on rural trails or riding on trips of three or 4 days high in the peninsula’s central mountains, the thrill of exploring our lush peninsula just seems heightened from horseback. Popular rides include journeying from the paradas (organized entry points) to the waterfall at el Limon or the ride up and over the mountains from Las Galeras to Playa Rincon. Local rides through the campo (rural villages) are also in demand.           4WD/Quad motorcycles may be rented in both Las Terrenas and Las Galeras for excursions to local attractions.
