Atlantis
Hotel
Playa Bonita, Las Terrenas |
Located just a few steps from Playa Bonita’s
sandy beach in the shade of a lush, tropical grove resplendent with coconut
palms and other native vegetation, the Atlantis
Hotel offers a special ambiance
not found in many Dominican tourist accommodations.
The charm of the property is evident in its setting
and architectural delights: nooks and crannies here, a marvelous old map
on the wall there. An inside hall becomes a composition in lines when the
light is just right as it’s stairs lead us up, seemingly into infinity. |
The stairwell becomes a huge mushroom rising
from the lush grounds as it reminds us of the whimsical, artistic fancy
of the hotel’s owner-builders. It and other artistic creations and
architectural interest embodied in the hotel structure further melds us
into an atmosphere of peace and tranquility.
Caressed by the ocean breezes of Playa Bonita,
the hotel has 19 rooms of differing configurations, all with fans
and some with air-conditioning. Accommodating up to four persons, the rooms
are named instead of being numbered and are decorated and furnished accordingly. |
All rooms have immense bedrooms, marble bathrooms,
are comfortably appointed and invite the weary traveler to relax. And with
the accommodations come the option of an ocean view, a private balcony or
terrace setting with a garden view. Rates vary from $60usd to $130usd, depending
on season and occupancy. Rates include breakfast and taxes and families
with children are welcomed.
Completing the setting is a completely
natural beach with beach chairs available for guests, a private
children's playground and the warm, placid waters of Playa Bonita,
safe for swimming for even the youngest of aquanauts.

Although located just 10 minutes from the hustle
and bustle of Las Terrenas, Atlantis Hotel is worlds apart from this popular
tourist destination. Here you can rent a car, hire a taxi or explore the
many boutiques and shops featuring native arts and crafts. Days are for
shopping, exploring the countryside, visiting the many attractions the Samana
Peninsula has to offer or just lazing on the beach. But the nights,…the
nights are for the tropical rhythms of merengue, salsa or bachata!
Many discos and salsa bars populate the village and cater to the Dominican's
insatiable demand for music and dance.

Other activities available include
horseback riding, deep-sea fishing, snorkeling and SCUBA diving,
wind surfing, sailing, whale-watching, tennis and excursions to
waterfalls, caves and national parks. See the Attractions section
